Description: What do you call something that is so original that it sets a new standard in camping - a combination of sports and enrichment in a Shabbat-observant camp with Torah learning and daily minyanim? Well, our campers call it "an amazing experience." But we call it Yesh Shabbat. A modern othodox program, Yesh Shabbat offers young observant Jews a comfortable setting among their peers where they can both grow in knowledge and understanding of traditional Judaism, and enjoy high-level sports instruction, enrichment courses and recreational activities. The camp is held at Arcadia University, a small, safe, beautiful college with modern dormitories and athletic facilities. Supervised by Rabbi Alan Berkowitz, headmaster of the Ramaz Lower School in New York City, the camp is shomer Shabbat with glatt kosher food. All staff members are experienced in working with observant youth and must have backgrounds in Hebrew day schools, synagogues and youth programs. Campers choose either a concentrated sports program (tennis, golf, basketball or soccer) or an enrichment major (creative and fine arts, or theater and drama). In addition, they enjoy a wide variety of evening activities and Sunday trips to regional destinations such as Great Adventure, Hershey park and New York City. |
