Description: Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing has been changing outlooks and developing leaders since 1990. We are not a traditional summer camp; we are an all-outdoor, ACA Accredited, Adventure Program offering 1 to 4 week courses for ages 9-18 with a focus on developing leadership, confidence, self-esteem and teamwork. Discover Canada: Join us for some world class high adventure in the majestic mountains and lakes of beautiful British Columbia. You and your group are set to climb, paddle, cave, backpack, and whale-watch your way across B.C.'s Vancouver Island. Your trip starts when you arrive in Vancouver and meet your group for a scenic ferry ride to Nanaimo, where your exhilarating journey awaits. The adventure begins when you climb and crawl your way through the ancient, limestone Horne Lake Caves. During this subterranean exploration, you'll behold the fantastic sights of the world underground, including watching water drain out of the Siphon Room into the famous Achilles Pit below. After emerging from the depths of the earth, you will savor the snow-capped peaks and glistening lakes of Strathcona Provincial Park. Start at the awe-inspiring Mount Washington, surveying your future destinations in the colossal mountains and glassy lakes beyond. Journey to Paradise Meadows, where you will backpack through several miles of untamed tundra heading to the top of Mount Albert Edward, at 6870 feet, one of the highest peaks in the park. Next, you'll rock climb Crest Creek Crags, a 80 ft. face overlooking Crest Creek and Crest Lake. Famous for over 100 sport climbing routes, Crest Creek Crag offers challenge and fun in a picturesque setting. Now it's time for a change in scenery as you hit the river for some whitewater kayaking and canoeing. You will spend three days paddling through the class 2-3+ waves and swells of B.C.'s scenic Gold River. The water adventure continues as you canoe Strathcona's major body of water, Buttle Lake, basking in the reflections of the surrounding mountains. Ditch the canoes at the waters edge and begin hiking into Strathcona's alpine regions, where you will experience what is only reachable on foot: B.C.'s spectacular Della Falls. Watch as Della Lake pours 1444 feet over the mountainside into Drinkwater Creek below, a height more than 7.5 times that of Niagara Falls! From there you will paddle Great Central Lake and park the canoes to prepare for a whale watching expedition. You will cruise from Tofino to the North End of Clayoquot Sound, covering 20 scenically sensational miles of protected and open-coast marine waters. Grab your camera for the breathtaking sight of gray and killer whales breeching and swimming just feet from your boat. Afterward, relax your body in a well-deserved dip in the bubbling thermal pools of Hot Springs Cove. Join us and discover the incredible adventure that British Columbia has to offer! |
